The five USDA BioPreferred products are: Estesol®; Solopol®; Kresto® Select; STOKO® Gel Instant Hand Sanitizer; and STOKO Refresh® Foaming Instant Hand Sanitizer, the release stated.
According to the release, the USDA defines biobased as commercial or industrial products that are composed, in whole or in significant part, of biological products, renewable agricultural materials or forestry materials.
These five products are now listed on the USDA BioPreferredSM website as part of the Federal Biobased Products Procurement Program, the release noted.
Ron Shuster, product line director for STOKO, said: "STOKO has been an industry pioneer in the use of natural ingredients, as in the use of castor oil in several of our heavy duty products. Converting from plastic scrubber to walnut shell scrubber in the 1990s really set us on a path of eco-friendly formulations. Our research and development department works diligently to include natural ingredients to increase the greening of our products while at the same time improving skin compatibility. We anticipate additional products in our line being tested and added to this program. We are proud to add USDA BioPreferredSM to our growing list of environmentally responsible efforts we are implementing."
