GREENSBORO, NC — STOKO® Skin Care, a world leader in the away-from-home skin care hand hygiene market, is pleased to announce that five of their top selling, high quality products have been independently tested and meet USDA status as BioPreferredSM. These products are now listed on the USDA BioPreferredSM website as part of the Federal Biobased Products Procurement Program. The five products are: ESTESOL®, SOLOPOL®, KRESTO® SELECT, STOKO® GEL INSTANT HAND SANITIZER and STOKO REFRESH® FOAMING INSTANT HAND SANITIZER.
Biobased products are made from renewable agricultural materials and are quickly replacing petroleum-based products. The USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) defines “biobased” as commercial or industrial products (other than food or feed) that are composed in whole or in significant part, of biological products, renewable agricultural materials, or forestry materials. Qualifying biobased products become eligible for procurement preference by the Federal Government. Products must be reasonably available, meet performance standards and are reasonably priced.
“Light duty cleansing with ESTESOL®, medium to extra-heavy duty cleansing with SOLOPOL® and KRESTO® SELECT, and two choices of Instant Hand Sanitizers give Federal agencies several popular choices,” states Armand Coppotelli, Senior Technical Manager.
“STOKO has been an industry pioneer in the use of natural ingredients, as in the use of castor oil in several of our heavy duty products. Converting from plastic scrubber to walnut shell scrubber in the 1990’s really set us on a path of eco-friendly formulations,” adds Ron Shuster, Product Line Director. “Our R&D department works diligently to include natural ingredients to increase the greening of our products while at the same time improving skin compatibility. We anticipate additional products in our line being tested and added to this program. We are proud to add USDA BioPreferredSM to our growing list of environmentally responsible efforts we are implementing.”
