WASHINGTON —
Stepan Company leader F. Quinn Stepan has received the 2010
Soap and Detergent Association (SDA)
Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award, according to a
press release.
According to the release, the award, recognizing extensive or exceptional service to SDA, was presented at the SDA Annual Meeting and Industry Convention at
The Grande Lakes in
Orlando.
Stepan has served in a variety of roles at the Stepan Company — including director, president, chief executive officer (CEO) and currently chairman of the board of directors — and under his leadership, the company has grown to become a $1.5 billion enterprise with 1,500 employees and 14 manufacturing facilities nationwide, the release stated.
Stepan has also had active roles in a number of industry organizations, including the American Chemistry Council, the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois and the Illinois Business Roundtable, the release noted.
The Stepan Company is one of the largest global manufacturers of surfactants and polyester polyols and is based in Northfield, Illinois, the release noted.
The Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award is named in honor of the late Elva Walker Spillane, the former
National Purity LLC chief executive and 20-year SDA board member, the release added.
