Contrary to widespread belief, online conversations are not just for teens and 20-somethings — they are a useful medium for individuals of all ages and careers wishing to share and gain knowledge.
I recently attended an event focusing on social media and how to utilize it to maximize your online campaigns while increasing brand awareness.
It was highly informative and will serve as a guideline for our future social media endeavors.
I encourage anyone with the opportunity to participate in such events, as they are ideal educational opportunities — generally free of cost — and serve as wonderful occasions for networking.
There will always be those who are intimidated by new and emerging technologies and means of communication; however, those who understand the power of social media and the breadth of benefits it can bring to a company or organization will have an upper hand over those refusing to come aboard.
There are numerous social media websites one can join — Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc. — that are limited only by the amount of free time you have and how in-depth a conversationalist you are.
