Six custodians lose their jobs
FOLEY, MN — Six custodial workers were laid off on Tuesday after Benton County commissioners approved a contract with a private cleaning firm, according to the St. Cloud Times.
In a budget saving move, the commissioners approved a three-year contract with EnviroTech to clean various facilities throughout the county, the article stated.
According to the article, the positions are being eliminated through the property management department and consist of five custodians and one supervisor position.
The five custodians will get one week of severance for each year of service, which is a total cost of $56,000, the article noted.
The county board has also decided to extend the same severance package to the nonunion supervisor, the article added.
