Seven arrested for supporting janitors

August 1, 2012

HOUSTON, TX — Seven protestors, arms linked, were arrested on Tuesday in another display of civil disobedience in protest of janitorial wages, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Among those arrested were four janitors from Chicago and three out-of-state labor activists, the article stated.

According to the article, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) did not include any Houston janitors in the protest, fearing they would lose their jobs altogether.

The seven protestors were handcuffed and taken away via police van and charged with trespassing, a Class B misdemeanor, and could face up to 180 days in jail, the article noted.
