Heavy rains combined with snowmelt in March flooded two buildings at the school''s riverside campus, forcing many students to spend the last two months of the spring semester at the school''s south campus, the story stated.
Custodians and maintenance staff worked without a day off this month to ensure the previously flooded buildings were clean, healthy and fit for student and staff occupation, the story noted.
Flood damage was estimated at $2 million, and last week the school submitted a $1.75 million application to the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with hopes that insurance will cover some of the remaining costs, the story added.
According to the story, more than 100 volunteers assisted staff in moving desks, textbooks and other items to the repaired buildings.
