School custodian teaches children generosity

April 11, 2011

TUSCUMBIA, AL — Tony Hall, a custodian at Trenholm Primary School, organized an Easter celebration for the children, complete with prizes for every student, reported The Times Daily.

He and his wife bought the children plastic eggs, candy, toys, stuffed animals and even six bicycles that were raffled off at random, according to the article.

"This is just a wonderful thing," said Principal Janice Jackson.

"Hall doesn''t like to take credit for any of the things he does, but he''s genuinely a good, caring person and he loves these kids. We call them ''Tony''s kids.'' He and his wife made treat bags at Halloween for all the students and teachers, too. Everyone here just loves him," Jackson added.

"This has been so much fun for me," Hall said.

"The kids seemed to be having fun and that''s why I wanted to do this. It reminded me of Easter when I was a child. My parents would hide an Easter basket somewhere in the house and my sister and I had to hunt for it. It was a lot of fun and I have good memories from those days. I hope these children remember today for a long time, too," Hall concluded.
