School begins to privatize
MOSINEE, WI — The Mosinee School Board has voted in favor of replacing departing custodial members with private contractors, according to the Wausau Daily Herald.
The three part-time custodians are not being laid off, rather are resigning or retiring, the article stated.
According to the article, hiring replacements would have cost the district nearly $70,000.
The board will hire the janitorial services firm CleanPower to fill the positions, the article noted.
If the privatization system works, the district may continue to replace workers as they leave the district with contracted employees, the article added.
