SCA Is Platinum Sponsor at Philadelphia’s Largest Earth Day Celebration

The Clean Air Council’s 30th Annual 5K Run for Clean Air will take place on

Saturday, April 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on MLK Drive, next to the Art Museum

PHILADELPHIA – SCA, one of Philadelphia’s most sustainable companies, is sponsoring the 5K Run for Clean Air this year for the first time. In addition to financial support of the race, SCA will provide their Tork® paper products (bath tissue, paper towels and napkins), which are made from 100 percent recycled content, for use at the event.

“SCA has a strong commitment to sustainability that dates back 80 years to our company’s roots in the Swedish forests,” explained Amy Bellcourt, vice president of Communications, SCA Americas. “We commemorate Earth Day each year in Philadelphia and wanted to partner with an organization that shares our sustainable values. We learned about the Clean Air Council and the Clean Air Run and saw a great alignment. That’s when we signed on as a sponsor of the race.”

“Clean Air Council is excited to welcome SCA as a Platinum Sponsor of the 5K Run for Clean Air,” said Joseph O. Minott, Esq., executive director of the Clean Air Council. “SCA’s support has helped the Council grow the Run substantially for our 30th anniversary. Not only does SCA support the event financially, but they provided the Run with 100 percent recycled paper products, and their employees will participate in the event as both runners and volunteers.”

For 30 years the Clean Air Council has been holding the 5K Run for Clean Air to show support for their mission to protect the environment and public health. The 5K has been certified as a green run by AFitPlanet and implements dozens of sustainable practices including: paperless online registration, recycling and composting of 99 percent of waste, bicycle valet, seed-paper run bibs, biodiesel generated power sources, reusable race bags and environmental education exhibits.
