The organizations held a VIP Tree Planting event on May 29 that included executives and employees from both organizations, SCA customers and special participation by three Eagles alumni players: Linebacker Gary Cobb, wide receiver Fred Barnett and wide receiver Mike Quick, the release stated.
Joe Russo, SCA Tissue vice president of sales and distribution in the U.S. and Canada, said: "We are proud of the mutual commitment to the environment we share with the Philadelphia Eagles under their Go Green program and pleased to be part of their Eagles Forest initiative for the second year in a row."
Participants planted 15 trees, which were added to the 1,500-plus trees and shrubs the Eagles previously planted in the space; more than 150 of the trees were purchased by fans, the release noted.
The Philadelphia Eagles, a pioneer among professional sports teams in environmental initiatives, made SCA Tissue the sole supplier of sanitary paper products in 2007, the story added.
