Randels Elementary says goodbye to a friend
FLINT, MI — Custodian Frank Moore is a firm believer that learning doesn’t stop in the classroom, according to The Flint Journal.
It is exactly that belief that has guided Moore for his 35 years of service at Randels Elementary, and was likely the reason he received such a warm goodbye, the article stated.
"Kids learn from everybody and everything," said Moore.
"If they get the same message from all the right people — if mom says it and the teachers say it and I say it — then all the sudden they''re getting the right message," Moore added.
According to the article, students and staff surprised the custodian with a retirement assembly featuring skits and an original rendition of the song "Thanks for the Memories."
"He''s so much more than a person who takes care of the building — he really takes care of all of us in the building as well," said Principal Bonnie Haffajee.
As a retirement gift, students wrote their wishes for Moore on paper dog bones since Moore is known to all as the "Big Dog: because of a Big Dog brand T-shirt he wears, the article noted.
