Procter & Gamble gets new chief executive

CINCINNATI — JanSan manufacturer Procter & Gamble Company announced yesterday that Robert McDonald will become the company''s new chief executive officer (CEO), according to the New York Times.
Effective July 1, McDonald, who has helped build the company’s developing markets business and restructure company operations, will replace nine-year executive A. G. Lafley, the story stated.
Lafley, who will be 62 years old this Saturday, will remain chairman of the board, the story noted.
McDonald became chief operating officer (COO) in 2007 and will now be the 12th CEO in Procter & Gamble''s 172-year history, the story added.
