Privatization decision delayed
PLAINWELL, MI — Custodians for Plainwell Community Schools will need to wait another two weeks before the board decides their fate, according to the Union Express.
School board members want more time to look at the proposal to accept a bid from Grand Rapids Cleaning Services and privatize custodial services, the article stated.
According to the article, the district currently contracts with Grand Rapids, but still employs 11 in-house custodians, all of which would lose their jobs.
"It''s a tough decision," said board member Kevin Blue.
"I want the two weeks to think about these concerns," Blue added.
