Chicago — In a ceremony at the University of Illinois, PortionPac Chemical Corporation received the Governor’s Continuous Improvement Sustainability Award for significant achievements in protecting the environment.
For 25 years the state has recognized manufacturers for their commitment to the environment through outstanding and innovative sustainability practices. This year PortionPac was amongst 16 Corporations that received the Award including: Abbott, Ball Corporation, Caterpillar, Chicago Department of Aviation O’Hare Modernization Project, Cintas, Hitachi and Navistar.
Three new projects were implemented to further reduce PortionPac’s impact throughout its national network of employees and customers. The manufacturing facility was re-lamped resulting in greater efficiency and reduced impact, a MUDA program was created to reduce waste and a video communications system was implemented with employees, distributors and customers.
Previously, PortionPac received the award for innovations in product design and process including their Shared Savings programs with thousands of schools, healthcare facilities and corporations.
“While we have continued to innovate and improve our products and processes over four decades, we focus on helping our customers and the community discover strategies to further reduce their impact on the environment. It is through education and outreach that we can make the most difference and we look forward to continuing those efforts,” said Marvin Klein, the Founder of the Corporation.
