Piranha Las Vegas “Hands-on” Symposium a Sold-Out Event
A hundred cleaning and restoration professionals swarmed to the 100+ heat of Las Vegas for the second annual Piranha Marketing “Hands-on” Symposium, co-hosted by Winner’s Circle Training and Servicemaster of Las Vegas.
The showcase curriculum was the team teaching of Lisa Wagner and Jim Pemberton on oriental rug and fine fabric care - with a combination of practical classroom training, and hands-on testing, inspection, and cleaning from synthetic to silk.
Other demonstrations included specialty stone work (Interlink Supply), dry cleaning of silk (US Products), odor removal technology (Odorox), and a session on contents-cleaning for fire restoration (Fireline and Mobile Clean). David Brinkley led a Restoration Roundtable on how the group is generating and securing a steady flow of restoration work.
New carpet, rug, and upholstery cleaning tools and solutions were unveiled at this event by Sapphire Scientific for both natural fiber and synthetic rug and fine fabric care. The group had the opportunity to clean a full room of furniture with these new tools and solutions, and brought a heavily soiled rug from the hotel lobby back to life again.
A $100 “anyone-can-afford-to-do-this” pit was constructed in the warehouse to clean an Afghan wool “bleeder” with the new products. The US Products dry cleaning machine was used to clean some tricky silk upholstery, and the Hydramaster Dri-Master used for the tricky rayon rug cleaning. The Sapphire Scientific Upholstery Pro was used on the very delicate rayon blend upholstery, and their Stryker wand on the rug.
The group then went to a local rug plant to do hands-on scrubbing and washing of a wide variety of oriental wool rugs, and got the chance to see how well the Dri-Eaz Rover extracts water from all types of rugs. Lisa Wagner stated, “anyone unable to afford a wringer or spinner for water removal, this IS the tool to get for your rug cleaning business.”
14 year cleaning specialist Joel Belmont remarked, “I got more out of two days of hands on training than I have in ALL of my IICRC certification classes.”
Jim Pemberton and Lisa Wagner will be crafting an advanced “Techniques for the Trickiest Textiles” for unveiling at the Piranha Marketing annual Conference October 13-15 in Phoenix AZ.
