Perpetrator brings bedbugs into police station
ASBURY PARK, NJ — Bedbug extermination is necessary after police believe a man arrested for sexual assault and his victim brought the pests into their station Monday night, according to the Asbury Park Press.
Police operations were temporarily moved to an alternate location while the extermination took place, the story stated.
Police Chief Mark Kinmon said, "We believe bedbugs were present, and there may have been a transfer from their person to different locations in our headquarters."
The Asbury Park Police Department is coordinating with the Monmouth County Jail to make certain the man does not bring bedbugs into the detention facility when he is transferred there, the story noted. It was hoped that the building would be bedbug-free by Wednesday, but there is no word as to whether or not the station is operating normally, the story added.
