Outbreak sickens more than 100
PACIFICA, CA — The San Mateo County Health Department has confirmed that norovirus is to blame for more than 100 students falling ill at Ocean Shore Elementary, according to KGO-TV.
The outbreak was lab-confirmed by the health department and officials went to work to stop the spread of the illness in its tracks, the article stated.
According to the article, most of the cases were at Ocean Elementary, but Ortega Elementary also reported a few cases.
It has been all hands on deck as the schools have worked to rid all surfaces of the virus, giving everything a thorough scrub-down, the article noted.
"We are swabbing down desk tops every day, chairs, anything that is commonly used by multiple children," said Virginia Szczepaniak, a teacher at Ocean Shore Elementary.
