FORTH WORTH, TX — The federal
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Grapevine-based
Fore Machine Co. for failing to adequately protect employees at its Haltom City facility from potentially harmful exposure to lead. Proposed penalties total $72,750,
according to The Star-Telegram.
"Exposure to high levels of lead can produce toxic conditions to organs and tissues in the body," Zachary Barnett, OSHA''s area director in Fort Worth, said in a statement Thursday.
OSHA said it cited Fore, which manufactures machined parts, for 10 "serious violations" that include failing to provide respiratory protection to workers, medical evaluations for those required to wear a respirator and training in the use of respirators, the article stated.
Fore has 15 business days from receipt of the citations to comply with OSHA requirements, request an informal conference with the area director or contest the citations before the independent
Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the article noted.
