BSCAI elects officers, board members
Members of the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) have elected the following board officers for 2007 and board members for 2007-10:

  • President — John Ezzo of New Image Building Services, Mount Clemons, MI
  • President-elect — Ernest Clark Jr. of Mister Kleen Maintenance Co., Alexandria, VA
  • Vice president — Stanley Doobin of Harvard Maintenance, New York, NY
  • Treasurer — Mario Levasseur of Empire Maintenance Industries, Montreal, Quebec
  • Board members: William Ames of Ames Services, Annville, PA; David Bego of Executive Management Services, Indianapolis, IN; Taylor Bruce of IH Services, Greenville, SC; and Terri Gogetap of FBG Service Corp., Omaha, NE.

IEHA elects new leaders
Members of the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) elected new officers at a meeting during this year’s ISSA/INTERCLEAN® convention and trade show.

New board officers, who will be the group’s executive committee, are:

  • President — J. Darrel Hicks, Director of Environmental Services at St. Luke’s Hospital, Chesterfield, MO
  • President-elect — Marvin Ellsworth, Director of Environmental Services at Village Shalom, Overland Park, KS
  • Secretary/treasurer — Eric Bates, Environmental Services Manager at Bethesda Lutheran Homes, Watertown, WI.

In a related matter, Linda Dueno-Dufek, Maintenance Supervisor for the Manitowoc County Courthouse in Manitowoc, WI, became District Director of the Upper Midwest District, replacing Bates.

Control Building Services hires two VPs
New York City-based Control Building Services, a national facilities maintenance company with more than 4,000 employees, has hired Ralph Pavia as vice president of labor relations and Amy Buszka as vice president of human resources.

Minuteman gets new leaders
Addison, IL-based Minuteman International Inc., a manufacturer of JanSan equipment, has new executive leadership.

Rudi Gutmann will be president and chief executive officer and Ruediger Schroeder will be executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Falcon Waterfree promotes four execs
Grand Rapids, MI-based Falcon Waterfree Technologies, a manufacturer of water-free urinals, recently promoted four of its top executives.

The promotions are: Mike Schmidt, to vice president, operations; Bill Stimer, to vice president, customer experience; Randall Goble, to vice president, marketing; and Jim Rice, to director, technical services.

Custodian is Carnegie Hero
Peter Alley, a Bar Harbor, ME, school custodian who saved the life of an injured man by pulling him from his wrecked pickup truck, has been recognized as one of 16 recipients of Carnegie Medals for heroism.

In January, Peter Alley, a custodian at Connors-Emerson School, pulled Gary Alley (no relation) through the window of the truck, shortly before it exploded in flames.

ProTeam hires sales manager
Vacuum manufacturer ProTeam Inc. of Boise, ID, has hired Bob Cusick as regional manager for the Southern/ Southwestern region.

Cusick will be responsible for commercial division sales in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

K-C names top marketer
Dallas-based JanSan manufacturer Kimberly-Clark Corp. has hired Anthony Palmer for the new post of chief marketing officer.

Palmer, who had been managing director for Kellogg Co. in the UK, will oversee all of Kimberly-Clark’s marketing efforts.

Dow chemist wins Perkin Medal
James Stevens, a research chemist employed by JanSan manufacturer Dow Chemical Co. of Midland, MI, has won the prestigious Perkin Medal, awarded by the London-based Society of Chemical Industry for innovations in applied chemistry that have practical commercial applications.

Stevens has more than 75 patents, and his work helped Dow more efficiently produce about 2 billion pounds of polyolefins a year.

Betco hires communication manager
JanSan manufacturer Betco Corp. of Toledo, OH, has hired Courtney Ryan as its manager of communications.

Ryan, who has 10 years of marketing experience, will be responsible for managing a staff that produces effective advertisements, brochures, trade show materials, direct mailings, and a variety of literature.

Pacific Floor Care names president/CEO
Stephen K. Parker, a longtime executive with James River Corp., was appointed president and chief executive officer of Muskegon, MI-based Pacific Floor Care, a manufacturer of JanSan equipment.

J.T. Eaton hires sales exec
JanSan chemical manufacturer J.T. Eaton of Twinsburg, OH, has hired Doug Frano as national sales manager in the sanitary supply division.

ServiceMaster nears Memphis move
Memphis, TN, officials have granted JanSan services provider ServiceMaster two different tax breaks, depending on which property ServiceMaster moves its headquarters to.

ServiceMaster has all but committed to moving its headquarters and its 165 jobs from Downers Grove, IL, to Memphis, where all of the company’s divisions, which include Merry Maids and ServiceMaster Clean, are currently based, employing about 2,000 people.

If ServiceMaster moves into an existing building, it will receive a tax break of $8 million over 12 years; if it builds a new headquarters, it will receive a tax break of $18 million over 15 years.

Distributor changes name
JanSan distributor Columbus Janitor Supply Co. of Columbus, OH, has changed its named to CleanInnovations, as a way to re-brand the 55-year-old family-owned firm as it expands its JanSan supply business beyond its central Ohio base.

Dade Paper expands again
Miami,Fl-based JanSan distributor Dade Paper has acquired Coastal Supply of Destin, FL

Terms were not disclosed and Coastal’s six employees were all offered jobs with Dade.

The acquisition was Dade’s 10th since 2000, and a company official said it won’t be the last.
