ServiceMaster promotes Cromie
Facility service provider (FSP) ServiceMaster, Downers Grove, IL, promoted Scott J. Cromie to group president, in addition to his post as chief executive officer of American Home Shield.
Clorox names Matschullat interim CEO
JanSan manufacturer Clorox Co. named Robert Matschullat the company’s interim chairman and chief executive, after Gerald Johnston suffered a heart attack on March 1.
Matschullat is presiding director on the company’s board and his interim leadership is part of the company’s contingency plan in the event the CEO is temporarily incapacitated.
Tennant names Paulson CFO
Floor care equipment manufacturer Tennant Co., Minneapolis, named Thomas Paulson vice president and chief financial officer.
BSC president wins Woman of Year award
The Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) member Pamela Washington, president of A-1 Janitorial Services, Las Vegas, won the 2006 Enterprising Women of the Year in the category for women whose firms earn $1 million to $5 million in annual revenue.
Enterprising Women of the Year Award, bestowed by Enterprising Women Magazine, honors the country’s top female entrepreneurs.
OpenWorks appoints Hanson
Phoenix-based building service contractor (BSC) OpenWorks hired Derek Hanson as director for the Arizona region, encompassing the greater metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson areas.
Prior to joining OpenWorks, Hanson was regional director for Buildingstars Inc. and Coverall North America in St. Louis.
BSC expands use of robot cleaners
Facility service provider (FSP) Crothall Services Group, Portland, entered a long-term program with Intellibot Robotics LLC to install robotic floor cleaning equipment at key facilities across the country.
Wayne, PA-based Crothall has tested Intellibot robots for daily floor maintenance, and expects to add more scrubbers and the robotic vacuum scheduled for release this month.
Sanitors buys CA firm
San Antonio building service contractor (BSC) Sanitors Inc. acquired California Maintenance Inc., a major BSC for commercial and office buildings in California with revenues of $30 million, for an undisclosed amount.
CIRI seeks JanSan papers for first conference
The Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) is seeking papers on cleaning science to be presented at its first annual Conference & Symposium, April 30 through May 2, 2007, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Authors wishing to have papers reviewed for this conference should submit an abstract (three-page maximum) to Thomas Jones — an associate professor at UNLV and CIRI board member who will act as editor of conference proceedings — via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by April 15, 2006.
Canadian city mandates green cleaning
Fredericton, New Brunswick, has become the second city in Canada and one of very few in North America to only use green cleaning products in city-owned and managed facilities.
City officials tested and evaluated various green cleaning products over a three-year period, eventually deciding to go exclusively with products manufactured by Enviro-Solutions of Peterborough, Ontario.
Housekeepers group to accept continuing ed credits
The International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) will again accept continuing education units (CEUs) for its certifications as of July 1.
Members applying for certification or recertification as executive housekeepers will only be able to provide CEUs received on specific subjects, which will be delineated by the IEHA Board of Directors at their April 12 meeting.
ChemPro and Redox Brands to merge
Cleaning supplies manufacturer ChemPro Inc., Spartanburg, SC, has been acquired by Allied Capital Corp. for $99.2 million.
ChemPro will merge with Redox Brands, a majority-owned portfolio company of Allied Capital, to form CR Brands Inc.
