ISSA names assessors for management standard
ISSA has accredited the first 10 industry experts as Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) assessors.
The CIMS assessors will conduct comprehensive reviews of cleaning organizations that apply for certification under CIMS, which codifies universally accepted principles of well-managed and customer-centered cleaning organizations.
The 10 CIMS assessors are: Colin Butterfield, Bill Fellows, Bill Garland, Bill Griffin, Alfred Guaraldo, John Harris, John McCann, Pat McClure, Bruce Stark and James Vaughan Jr.
The assessors attended a multiple-day training course and passed an exam on the CIMS, the story stated.
Strategic Marketing Alliance hires CEO
The board of directors of JanSan distributors’ cooperative Strategic Marketing Alliance (SMA) hired Richard McGann as the group’s chief executive officer.
McGann brings varied experience to SMA, including 14 years in manufacturing, 18 years in distribution and eight years in “group” management.
ASHES leader passes away
Jim Connors, board vice president of American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES), died Sunday, May 6, at the age of 61.
Connors had worked in health care environmental services for more than 35 years, lately as director of environmental and textiles services at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Connors had been recognized with every honor from the ASHES organization, including ASHES’ highest honor — the Phoenix award — as well as the James Wolfbrant Mentor award, and most recently the Lifetime Achievement award.
Nilfisk-Advance hires regional sales manager
JanSan manufacturer Nilfisk-Advance America has promoted Kim Kanis to Eastern Region sales manager.
Kanis had been a successful Nilfisk-Advance district sales manager for New York and New Jersey for seven years.
SDA names environmental safety director
The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), a Washington-based trade association for cleaning products manufacturers, has hired Paul DeLeo as director of environmental safety.
DeLeo comes to the SDA from the federal Food and Drug Administration, where he was a consumer safety officer for four years.
DeLeo, who has a Ph.D. from Cornell University, will be responsible for SDA’s technical research and programs addressing regulatory and other initiatives related to environmental safety.
U.S. Products hires account executive
JanSan manufacturer U.S. Products of Coeur d’Alene, ID, has hired Michael Bell as an inside sales account executive.
Bell comes to U.S. Products from a sales position at Software Spectrum of Tempe, AZ.
Intellibot names sales manager
Portland, OR-based JanSan manufacturer Intellibot Robotics hired Paul Ponce to head up its Midwest region.
Ponce has more than 10 years of JanSan experience, most recently as regional sales manager for Powr-Flite/CFR.
Longtime CSPA counsel retires
Steve Kellner, a 33-year executive with the Consumer Specialty Products Association, a trade group representing manufacturers and distributors of cleaning products and other products, has retired from his position as senior vice president and general counsel.
Kellner joined CSPA (then known as the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association) as director of legislative and regulatory affairs in 1974, then became vice president of legal affairs in 1979 and senior vice president and general counsel in 1998.
Kellner has been replaced by Brigid Klein, formerly CSPA’s assistant general counsel.
ProTeam hires customer service veteran
Vacuum manufacturer ProTeam Inc. of Boise, ID, hired Tracy Elliott as customer service manager.
Elliott has more than 12 years’ experience in call center and customer-service management, most recently as a customer-service manager with T-Mobile.
BSCAI has successful show
Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) had its highest attendance in years for its annual convention and trade show at McCormick Place in Chicago on April 13-17.
More than 1,800 BSC owners and employees toured exhibits by more than 100 JanSan suppliers at the trade show.
The CEO Summit seminar with Shannon Waller was a popular addition to the convention this year.
This year’s BSCAI show was its first since contracting with Chicago-based association management firm SmithBucklin.
Racine goes green
The Green Racine campaign, a unique community-wide energy-saving and green cleaning initiative involving city and county governments, public and private schools, businesses, churches and nonprofits, was launched in April in Racine, WI.
The initiative is supported by JanSan manufacturer JohnsonDiversey Inc., which is headquartered in Sturtevant in Racine County, and longtime JanSan distributor Kranz Inc., based in the city of Racine.
