Nebraska names state custodian of the year
COLUMBUS, NE — The work of Columbus Middle School''s head custodian might not register on everyone''s radar, but he caught the attention of of the Nebraska State Custodial Association, according to the Columbus Telegram.
The association has selected Paul Nieuwenhuis as the 2012 Custodian of the Year, the article stated.
According to the article, Nieuwenhuis was nominated by Director of Building and Grounds Tom Wunderlich during a June board of education meeting.
"He sets an example for all Columbus Public Schools (CPS) certified staff," said Wunderlich.
"You just got to take one step at a time, and if you have several jobs to be done at once, you have to prioritize how important they are and get them done," said Nieuwenhuis.
To be eligible for Custodian of the Year, candidates must be current members of the Nebraska State Custodial Association, have attended a training workshop within the last three years and submit an application with a professional letter of recommendation, the article noted.
