February 18, 2010

BILOXI, MS — The thousands of people that joined in the Mardi Gras parade and festivities left behind a large amount of trash in the streets, beach and sidewalks in downtown Biloxi, Mississippi, according to WLOX-TV.

According to the story, it''s a yearly tradition for the city cleanup crews tasked with the job of picking of trash and other belongings left behind.

Dan Hodges, a worker for the Harrison County Sand Beach Department, said it is "mainly beads, bags that the beads were in, doubloons, trash — basic stuff."

City workers are confident they will manage to clean up all of the post-parade litter, but admit that it will most likely take several days to complete, the story added.
