Majority of Americans buy green
WASHINGTON — A recent survey found that 69 percent of American adults purchase green products or services, which is slightly less than previous years, according to a press release.
A Harris Interactive survey, commissioned by Tork USA, an SCA company, was conducted on May 29, and more than 2,100 U.S. adults were questioned, the release stated.
Green restaurants particularly enjoy support from consumers with 52 percent of those polled saying they would rather eat at a restaurant with a social and environmental component, the release noted.
According to the release, other findings of the survey included:
• Four in 10 U.S. adults believe green products and services are just getting started
• Only 18 percent trust companies claiming to be transparent even if they have independent verification for accuracy
• Three-quarters of adults say they can determine if a green claim is true.
