Maintenance man foils attempted robbery

GAINESVILLE, FL — A man with a storied police record was taken into custody after a maintenance man foiled an attempted robbery in progress, according to the Gainesville Sun.
Bruce Jones, a C & S Building Maintenance employee, found the would-be robber standing in a hallway of the company office when he arrived at work over the weekend, the story stated.
According to the story, Jones called the Gainesville Police Department after the man shoved him out of the way and ran into the woods behind the building.
Among the items C & S Building Maintenance reported missing were several laptop computers, telephones, a walkie-talkie and other electronics worth at least $5,500, the story noted.
The would-be robber was arrested by Gainesville police on charges of assault or battery during a burglary, grand theft and burglary, the story added.
