March 23, 2012

PHILADELPHIA — When Penn State basketball seniors graduate in May, they will be joined by their so-called valedictorian, Palestra custodian Dan Harrell, according to The Daily Pennsylvanian.

Harrell, the self proclaimed "dinosaur from Southwest Philly," will retire at the end of the school year after 23 years of caring for the Cathedral of College Basketball, the article stated.

According to the article, at Harrell, 68, could have retired last year, but wanted to end his time with the school as the current seniors in the program graduated.

Harrell claims the physical nature of his job has finally taken its toll, saying, "I just don''t kick ass like I used to," the article noted.
