according to a press release.
The building certification program, the de facto standard for green development in the United States and beyond, has become so popular that the
U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is opening up its
LEED Online tool to the software application market and third-party software developers, the release stated.
The new program, called
LEED Automation, will help provide automation of various LEED documentation processes, deliver customers a unified view of their LEED projects and standardize LEED content and distribute it consistently across multiple technology platforms, the release noted.
"LEED Automation allows USGBC and the technology companies to create multiparty interactions versus point-to-point communications between various software applications and IT systems," said Scot Horst, senior vice president of LEED and USGBC.
"This will make the LEED documentation and certification process much more intuitive and enable our systems to talk to one another with the push of a button," Horst added.
