Janitor termination may have been illegal
WARNER, OK – The termination of a janitor by Warner Vice Mayor Randy Brassfield may have been in violation of the Open Meeting Law, according to the Muskogee Pheonix.
According to the story, Brassfield announced the termination of the part-time janitor at the library and City Hall after the council returned from an executive session, but Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore says such decisions must be discussed and voted on in open session.
Brassfield was reminded about the open meeting law after returning from executive session and said the decision was not discussed in executive session, but rather it was discussed earlier, the story stated.
The janitor was paid $250 a week, the story added.
