Janitor still on the job at 100
September 20, 2010
LEXINGTON PARK, MD — A janitor at a post office in Maryland celebrated his 100th birthday Thursday with the help of his co-workers, according to KBMC-TV.
Mazerine Wingate started his job at the Lexington Park Post Office at age 60, when most people are settling into retirement, the article noted.
Forty years later, he''s still at it — at least five hours a day, six days a week: "Cause it keeps me going, enjoying life," Wingate said of why he''s still working.
His secret to longevity? He doesn''t smoke or drink and attends church every Sunday, but is most importantly eating good food like peas, cornbread and sweet potatoes, the article stated.
