Janitor robbed, beaten and bound

February 5, 2009
DORVAL, QC, Canada — The janitor of an apartment building was beaten, robbed and tied up by thieves earlier this week, according to The Montreal Gazette.
The janitor was targeted because he is the one responsible for collecting rent from other tenants, the story stated.
After forcing their way into the victim''s apartment and hitting him on the head with a blunt object, the men, described as black and English-speaking, stole $1,260 and the janitor''s wallet, the story noted.
Station 5 community relations officer Hélène Jubinville said: "They really went for something special. They knew the rent would be there. People shouldn''t panic about this."
Before leaving the apartment, the two thugs unsuccessfully tied the janitor up with duct tape, then used a more effective rope; the men are still at large, the story added.
