Janitor, accused of stealing, is in hot water again

February 21, 2011

QUEENS, NY — An ex-Department of Education custodian fired for taking barrels of heating oil from a Queens school has received a new demerit for harassing a black co-worker at Pratt Institute, according to the Daily News.

Louis Robles, who began working at the Brooklyn college while the education department was investigating the allegations, was back in hot water last June for harassing longtime worker George Murray, the article stated.

Pratt officials concluded that Robles "engaged in inappropriate behavior and made inappropriate statements" to Murray, the article noted.
According to the article, in April 2007, an anonymous letter accused Robles of stealing heating oil from the Public School 266 boiler by siphoning it into drums and taking it to his home on work hours.
Robles admitted removing drums from the school four or five times, which he claimed contained degreaser for personal use in a garage where he worked on classic cars, the article added.
