ICM Module in Final Stages of Development – ICM Certification Program to Launch at ISSA InterClean 2011

Westerville OH – The International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) has announced that the ICM Certification Committee is in the final stages of work on the five-unit ICM Module which will provide the basis for a knowledge and skills-based measurement certification for IEHA members and other cleaning industry professionals. The ICM Module and ICM Certification program will be launched at ISSA InterClean 2011 in Las Vegas.

Integrated Cleaning and Measurement (ICM) is an open source system - administered by the non-profit IEHA - that integrates measurement into cleaning processes to enable data-driven and verifiable improvements in cleaning outcomes through the use of measurement tools and well-chosen metrics. Examples of improvements based on associated metrics include enhanced productivity based on time studies and improved levels of cleanliness determined using measurement devices such as ATP meters or particle counters. By integrating measurement into systems of cleaning, ICM enables a cycle of continuous improvement.

“Our goal in developing the ICM Module and related ICM Certification is to provide cleaning professionals with the skills to expertly measure processes and practices to better the performance of their cleaning organization as a whole and to position themselves individually for success,” said Beth Risinger, CEO and Executive Director of IEHA.

“Development of the educational module has been a collaborative process involving end-user outreach to determine how the module and certification can best be applied operationally and in the field,” said Sarah Larsen Miller, Deputy Director of IEHA.

The ICM Module will consist of Five Units:

Unit 1: What is ICM?
Unit 2: The Importance of Measurement
Unit 3: Types of Measurement / How to Measure
Unit 4: Environmental, Professional and Financial Impact
Unit 5: ICM and the Cleaning Industry
