Hunger strike reaches day seven

May 31, 2011

MINNEAPOLIS — Despite a restraining order temporarily banning cleaners and their supporters from protesting on Cub Foods'' property, a hunger strike entered its seventh day on Friday, according to the Star Tribune.

The hunger strike was able to stay alive as sympathizers are on public property outside a south Minneapolis Cub Foods store, the article stated.

According to the article, Cub Foods filed a lawsuit alleging trespassing, which lead to the restraining order.

The cleaners are protesting the dismal state of their wages and working conditions, which workers say have been eroded by competition, the article noted.
