Hospital looks to outsource
SMITHFIELD, NC — Johnston Health administration has proposed a number of steps to help balance the budget, including the outsourcing of many jobs, according to The Herald.
More than 100 employees could be forced to look elsewhere for employment if the management of Johnston Health decides to outsource food and janitorial services to close the existing revenue and spending gap, the article stated.
According to the article, a private contractor could save the hospital up to $450,000 in the coming fiscal year.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chuck Elliott has said no employees would lose their jobs because of outsourcing: "There will be no layoffs. We will have the same number of jobs as we do now."
However, officials aren''t saying how employee benefits would be affected and likely wont know until a contract is signed, the article noted.
The contractor under consideration has yet to be named by hospital officials, the article added.
