Historic market forced to close after rodent infestation
According to the story, vendors were told to clean and remove stands from the market so the facility can be exterminated, although initially they were not told why the market was being closed.
Mervin Stoltzfus of Beiler''s Poultry said: "They came in and said we had to start cleaning up. They gave no explanation."
Gregg Fetterman, chairman of the market''s board, added: "We were really blindsided by this."
According to Fetterman, an official inspected the market two weeks prior and gave the market a positive report with only minor concerns that were addressed, including the changing of pest control companies, the story stated.
Fetterman expects the market to be open by next Wednesday, the story added.
