CM/Spotlight: Hard Floor Care

April 4, 2012

 Buckeye International Inc.

Portsmouth Christian Academy at Dover in New Hampshire decided to take their cleaning, maintenance and custodial duties in-house after being in a contract with an outside service.

The first, and most important, step was to hire new staffs to handle these duties.

Josh Gronblom was hired as the custodial supervisor and went about hiring a new team.

Finding the right people is always key, as they are the most valuable resource.

No matter which floor care or custodial program is utilized, its only as effective as the people doing the work.

 ProTeam Inc.

James Donahue's company, The Complete Cleaning Service, has cleaned office buildings, factories, healthcare facilities and schools in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, for two decades.

With 32 employees cleaning a huge range of industrial and commercial facilities, Donahue relies on a modified cleaning system based on team cleaning and about 20 ProTeam® backpack vacuums.

"My first love is the ProTeam backpack vacuum," said Donahue. "It's so productive, when I first started using it, I was killing the competition who were all still using uprights."

"Floors are the windows into a facility," as has been said before — and with good reason.

After all, hard surface floors are virtually the first thing patients and visitors see when there's a need for healthcare — be it the floor of a hospital lobby or the entrance to an emergency room, intensive care unit, extended care or ambulatory surgical center.

Likewise, parents, when they're bringing their children to school for the first day of class, look down at the long hallway floors before they look around for their child's classroom.

Are the floors clean?
