Green Education Services launches 'GreenEdu Academy'

WASHINGTON — Green Education Services and the American Institute of Architechs-DC Chapater (AIA|DC) announced today that they are launching a new program called GreenEdu Academy, a full-day workshop consisting of five educational sessions for industry professionals interested in learning more about topics on green building and the U.S. Green Building Council''s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), according to a press release.
Topics to be covered throughout the day include a comparison of LEED versions 2.0 and 3.0, the minimum program requirements for a LEED project, an introduction to sustainable site initiatives, an overview of stormwater management and a discussion on green roofs, the release stated.
The combination of courses will be worth 7.5 continuing education hours, which can be used towards architectural license renewal and AIA continuing education unit (CEU) requirements. GreenEdu Academy can also be applied to LEED credential maintenance for LEED accredited professionals (AP) and Green Associates, which require 30 and 15 USGBC-approved CEUs per two-year reporting period, the release noted.
The first workshop is scheduled for June 15, 2010 at the AIA DC chapter office.
