Georgia-Pacific Professional celebrates Clean Hands Week
ATLANTA — To celebrate National Clean Hands Week, September 18-24, 2011, Georgia-Pacific Professional has organized a series of events and activities designed to highlight the importance of proper hand hygiene, according to a press release.
"The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) names handwashing as the single most effective measure to prevent the spread of disease," said Bill Sleeper, president of Georgia-Pacific Professional Washroom and Wiper Solutions.
"It is our hope that this series of events in Atlanta will serve as an example for consumers across the nation and help further extend our message about the personal health and safety benefits of handwashing," Sleeper added.
Georgia-Pacific Professional will reach out to employees, consumers and organizations in Atlanta to encourage good hand hygiene practices and promote Spread Wellness, a campaign aimed at teaching people proper techniques for washing and drying hands when away from home, the release stated.
According to the release, some of the planned events include:
• School Presentation and Sanitizer Donations with Marilyn R. Duffoo
• Spread Wellness Week Proclamation: The third week of September has been designated "Clean Hands/Spread Wellness Week" in Atlanta
• Wellness Gift Bags: Will include Spread Wellness bracelets, hand sanitizer and information on how to keep hands clean.
