Former janitor sentenced

NEW ORLEANS — The former Ochsner Medical Center janitor accused of stealing patient records to order merchandise has been sentenced in federal court, according to WVUE-TV.

Clyde Washington, who worked at the medical center from November 2008 until June 3, 2009, was accused of stealing printouts that contained confidential patient information such as names, social security numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, home addresses and other personal information, the article stated.

According to the article, Washington was given three years of probation with the special condition of six months of community confinement followed by six months of home incarceration.

Washington''s girlfriend, who was also complicit in the crime, was sentenced to 27 months in prison, the article noted.
