Flu claims another victim
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health has reported a seventh flu death in connection to this year''s flu season, according to NECN-TV.
The number of deaths, compared to last year''s two dozen, was down significantly, the article noted.
According to the article, state epidemiologist Dr. Kristy Bradley has said the decline is likely due to a combination of factors including the mild winter and the late onset of the flu season.
"Another likely factor is that more of the population has previously encountered the flu viruses that are circulating this season, notably the 2009 H1N1 virus, and are now immune," Bradley said.
