Fired janitors regain their jobs

February 14, 2012

PHOENIX, AZ — After claiming they were unjustly fired, several Sky Harbor International Airport janitors have been given their jobs back, according to KNXV-TV.

The janitors claim they were fired after expressing the desire to have union representation, the article stated.

According to the article, GCA Services, the contractor supplying the workforce at the airport, allegedly learned of the four employees'' intentions to organize a union and preemptively fired them.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) launched an investigation and ruled in favor of the janitors who lost their jobs, the article noted.

A settlement reached out of court resulted in GCA not only reinstating the fired janitors but also giving them thousands of dollars in back pay, the article added.
