According to the release, the award — sponsored by Cintas Corporation — is in its fourth year and was designed to recognize the excellence of hospital ES and housekeeping departments that maintain high standards of qualities in specific areas.
Patti Costello, ASHES executive director, said: "Environmental services/housekeeping departments are on the front lines of a hospital''s success in patient satisfaction, infection prevention and safety. Nationally recognizing the contributions made by ES departments makes a strong statement to the important and critical role the ES staff plays during a patient''s visit to a hospital."
Critical areas of focus include infection control and prevention, patient safety, customer service, waste reduction and recycling efforts, staff training and overall patient satisfaction, the release stated.
Entries are due by June 4, and the winner will be profiled in Health Facilities Management and receive recognition at the 2010 ASHES Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, the release noted.
