May 9, 2011

ATLANTA — ECOVIE Rainwater Collection Systems has teamed up with the Atlanta Braves and Turner Field to capture, use and manage water for the 2011 baseball season, according to a press release.

The 1,500-gallon, co-branded tank is being installed in Monument Grove at Turner Field during the Braves'' upcoming road trip, the release stated.

According to the release, the ECOVIE system at Turner Field will capture rainwater, and the water will be used for watering plants and landscaping, as well as for cleaning the outfield plaza at Turner Field.

"We''re taking several steps to make Turner Field, and everything that we do on behalf of our franchise, as environmentally friendly as possible," said Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President of Operations Mike Plant.

"Working with ECOVIE on this project could have a long-term positive impact on our water use, and it keeps the Braves and Turner Field at the forefront of green technology," Plant added.

The amount of captured water at Turner Field is expected to exceed 10,000 gallons for the remainder of the 2011 season, and could capture more than 20,000 gallons over a full season, the release noted.
