EcoLogo Collaborating With Other Green Eco-Labels
As cleaning industry professionals and customers can all agree, multiple standards and certification programs can be confusing.
Greater harmonization, or at the very least, clearer paths towards multiple recognition will benefit everyone.
It is important to note, however, that the outcome of this work will not likely lead to identical standards.
As part of this harmonization process, the EcoLogo Program acknowledges that the current and ongoing Green Seal review of GS-37 is very useful in identifying important environmental topics that need special attention.
Harmonization will likely occur with elements such as: Asthmagens; chronic inhalation toxicity; prohibited ingredient listing; volatile organic compounds (VOCs); dispensing systems, formula sale restriction; packaging requirements; and respiratory irritants/terpene restriction.
In addition, EcoLogo wants to find ways to acknowledge the incredibly valuable role the Environmental Protection Agency''s (EPA) DfE formulator initiative plays in improving the environmental performance of products.
EcoLogo will be seeking ways to incorporate the DfE approach into its standard-based approach as part of the revisions to the EcoLogo standard.
The EcoLogo revision process for Hardsurface Cleaners will kick-off in mid-May.
