PHILADELPHIA — Nursing homes in eastern Pennsylvania must now report the secondary infections that patients acquire while being treated for other conditions, according to

Experts say the respiratory infections and staph diseases spread in health care settings can be especially hard to treat, reported the story.
However, HAIs can be minimized and are often preventable, such as through effective cleaning.
According to the story, there’s a rolling start-date for nursing homes to begin reporting infection data, but some facilities in eastern Pennsylvania began June 1st, others have until June 22nd.
