Roger Wagers, St. Joseph School District maintenance department supervisor, said the competition is an incentive for the workers and not only brings out the best in his 105-member staff but results in cleaner buildings overall.
Hillyard Chemical Company officials judge each building in the district twice a year on grounds, hallways, classrooms, restrooms, air quality and other factors, the story noted.
The "Cleanest Building Awards" have been an annual competition for eight years and the idea has spread throughout the
State of Missouri, the story added.
