District and custodians finalize deal
PLYMOUTH, MI — They might not have dental or vision insurance, and they will be required to take 17 furlough days, but the custodians of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools do have jobs, according to the Observer and Eccentric.
After negotiating until the proverbial eleventh hour, the Plymouth-Canton Custodial/Maintenance Association and negotiators for the district have reached an agreement on a new contract that will keep the union''s members working in the district, the article stated.
According to the article, union members ratified the deal Tuesday afternoon and the district is expected to sign it on July 9.
Once the union agreed to the deal, the board of education voted to suspend further talks with potential contractors for custodial services, the article noted.
The union made around $1 million in concessions, the article added.
