Discussion of the Week: Snow and ice removal
December 7, 2009
Join our Discussion of the Week on the CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management Online™ Bulletin Board and share your thoughts with other industry professionals.
This week''s discussion focuses on snow and ice removal.
With Old Man Winter fast approaching — and having already struck in some areas — it is important to be prepared with a snow and ice removal plan.
What sorts of procedures do you have in place to ensure proper snow and ice removal and reduce slip, trip and fall accidents among building occupants?
Is your plan proactive — applying ice-melts to prevent the buildup of frozen precipitation, or reactive — shoveling, snowblowing or plowing and applying ice-melts after accumulation?
Different practices need to be employed in different climates, and a proper snow and ice removal plan will cater to the specific needs of each facility.
Please share your snow and ice removal tricks of the trade and disclose your most challenging snow and ice removal experiences.
