Danny Glover stars in an unassuming ally role
HOUSTON, TX — Actor and social activist Danny Glover met with a delegation of Houston janitors over the weekend to talk fair wages, according to The Chronicle.
Glover is calling upon civil rights, faith and political leaders to form a task force in order to protect the First Amendment rights of the city''s janitors, the article stated.
According to the article, Glover''s visit comes at a critical time for Houston''s janitors, many of whom make just $9,000 annually.
"As citizens, it is our duty and responsibility to stand up for a living wage, to make this change and take this country back," said Glover.
"At the same time that corporations are reporting record profits, janitors are not making a living wage," Glover added.
Glover said he grew up around people who were always advocating on behalf of the plight of all workers, which has fueled his activism throughout his acting career, the article noted.
